Oisín in Senior Infants came 2nd in the Ballymote Credit Union Art Competition.
The pupils of 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class took part in SuperValu Athletics Fest Staying Local 2020. This year it was a timed relay event that was carried out in the school yard. We had junior boys and girls teams and a junior mixed team. We also had senior boys and girls teams and two Senior mixed teams. Over one thousand primary school children representing 36 primary schools from all over County Sligo took part and we were delighted and very proud to find out that our junior mixed team Sophia, Holly, Peadar and Kyle came 2nd in their competition and our Senior mixed team Seamus, Dylan, Amelie and Molly who did a fantastic run came 1st.
Welcome back everybody to a new school year! As always September and October have been very busy months as we all settle into our new classes. A very big welcome to all our 11 new Junior Infants. It has been lovely getting to know each of them and we look forward to the years ahead with them!.
In December the school staged a Variety Concert in Culfadda Church. On the night the children showcased their many talents through drama, dance and music. The younger classes sang a number of songs and performed a Nativity pageant. While the older children performed an Irish dance, sang carols and songs from popular musicals. They also thrilled everyone with their wonderful playing of the ukulele and tin whistle. We would like to thanks the teachers for their hard work preparing the children, Fr Murphy for letting us use the church and the Parent Association for getting the church ready for the concert and the party afterwards.
Congratulations to Dónall on coming 1st in the Credit Union Art Competition. His drawing will now be put forward to the regional Chapter competition
To all who took part on the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, a big thank you! We were lucky to have Carol Hennessey the national manager of Team Hope visit the school to talk to the children about how important their boxes are as they bring joy and excitement to children living in often very difficult situations.
Fred the Party Professor paid the school a magical visit. He entertained the children with magic tricks and music. Judging from the delight on all the faces a great time was had by all.
A new student council was elected for the year 2019/20. The representatives are 1st Class Conor Q., 2nd Class Holly, 3rd Class Samuel, 4th Class Oisín, 5th Class Eloise and 6th Class Fionn and Cían.
