Irish Comenius Meeting

February 21, 2022

We were so delighted to give our Comenius partners a warm Irish welcome to Co Sligo in March 2015! Céad míle fáilte! 22 European teachers from Germany, Finland, Portugal, Poland and Sloveniam visited us last week for our Comenius Partnership Meeting. The Comenius project is sponsored in Ireland by Léargas and it enables Irish schools to create partnerships with other European schools to work on interactive projects and encourage intercultural exchange. The group were brought on tours of Sligo’s stunning landscape and local historical and heritage sites. On Thursday, they were treated to an Irish Night of traditional food, song and dance at the Coach House Hotel, Ballymote and they spent Friday, 20th in our school meeting parents, staff and pupils; learning about the Irish education system and how to play Gaelic Football – with Sligo Gaelic senior player, Ross Donovan. Having enjoyed such great weather all week, they left for their home countries on Friday evening, exhausted, but singing the praises of our beautiful country and with plans to return to Co Sligo. Thank you so much to the Parents Association and all the parents who took part, contributed food and party treats and helped out with the visit during the week
