Happy St Patrick’s Day from Culfadda National School! 5th & 6th Class sent Irish greetings to Poland today on Skype. They were speaking with the children from our Comenius partner school in Bytom, Poland & we shared some of our St Patrick’s Day customs with them. They told us about their festival of ‘Carnival’ & showed us some of the beautiful masks that they had created. We introduced them to our School Band & showed them our traditional Irish instruments- the tin whistle & the bodhrán. Our School Band then played a traditional Irish tune for them, called ‘John Brosnan’s Polka.’ The next European Comenius project meetings take place in Slovenia in May. Ms Tighe & Ms McGrath will attend on behalf of our school. We were preparing for celebrating our national holiday with lots of art & craft. All of our pupils are looking forward to attending the annual parades in Sligo, Boyle, Ballymote & Gurteen. Many of our pupils will also be taking part in parades & celebrating their local clubs & activities. For some fun St Patrick’s Day art activities, click here
